Introducing CHRISTMAS FIGS!

Hello My Friends!

I know that's in well past Christmas and not yet Christmas in July but in case you haven't already heard about this... we have a Christmas collection due out this year and I'm so excited!! Introducing... CHRISTMAS FIGS, due out in stores in June 2018 just in time for all of those wonderful projects that all of you organized ladies and gentlemen start on in July! 

The collection is filled with fabulous red, green and ivory blender prints with a few Christmas prints thrown in. But the rest of them are perfect for those not so "in your face" Christmas projects that I prefer. The red is a wonderful cherry, Christmas red, saturated and full of warm red goodness. The greens are good strong grass and apple greens with a bit more blue in it than our standard greens. There are two tones, one a bit warmer and one stronger... both are perfect with that red! And the ivory... well it is a wonderful soft creamy color that is the perfect background to everything else!

With this lovely fabric that is coming in June, we are featuring 5 PATTERNS which are now all ready in our shop. We are still finishing some of them up so more official pictures will have to come later!

Other Info: These are the Christmas feeling quilts in a booklet that has 7 different versions of this pattern. Its amazing that just by changing placement and color you can create completely different blocks and different quilts. The whole book shows you how to use the same 2 blocks and simply with fabric placement create dozens of totally different looking projects. Its so much fun. If you don't already own this one, you really need to add it to your collection.

THE CHRISTMAS FIGS BOOK

We have partnered with the lovely ladies at the Fat Quarter Shop and published our popular Classic Yuletide block of the month program as a book entitled Christmas Figs BOM  [ just like the fabric that it is created with]. The book is due out in May to coincide as closely as possible with the fabric. The book consists of the full sampler quilt as well as 10 extra projects with some of the individual blocks from the book. Wow... we are loving how it is coming together! 

 

 

 

 

 

 And I do believe that the Fat Quarter Shop is also running this book as a BLOCK OF THE MONTH through their store with the Christmas Figs book and fabric... What could possibly be better???... check it out HERE if you are interested. Or to PRE ORDER the book, click HERE.

 

SPEAKING OF BLOCK OF THE MONTHS...

We are also running a different block of the month with the CHRISTMAS FIGS fabric and its called WOODLAND WONDERLAND. It is a mystery and all we know is that it features the fabric shown below and that it will certainly contain some woodland critters such as a hedgehog and some yummies such as mushrooms! We couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with the new Christmas Figs fabric and our favorite charcoal cross weave background...

NINE-PATCH WALTZ

Three different versions in this one, all starting with a jelly roll. Depending on where you place the colors or what accent you use, you end up with a completely different quilt! There is no curved piecing here or templates, just fabric illusion which is my favorite thing in a pattern. However I would not call this one a beginner quilt! At the same time, the possibilities on this one are pretty much endless and I think I might have a few more versions in me!

Size: 67" x 67"

HOPSCOTCH

A layer cake pattern that I really do think will become one of your go to favorites. You literally cut the layer cake into 8 pieces and sew up the block! Its fantastic! Add in a little charcoal pop from your stash to bling it up a bit and you have yourself a wonderful weekend project!

Size: 69" x 69"

 

MINI HOPSCOTCH

The moment we came up with the larger layer cake version, we knew we had to do a charm pack version too! There is just something so fun and simple about this block and its perfect for a table size! So grab your favorite charm packs, or wait for the lovelies from Ella & Ollie to be available next spring, and get yourself started on this fun table runner. I do believe some of my friends are starting to work on a Christmas version of this soon!

ROSEHIPS

Possibly my favorite pattern in a long time, this block just sings to me in so many different ways. Use a Layer Cake to make the smaller version or collect your favorite (16) fat quarters for the larger blocks, this block feels like roses, tulips and wreaths all at once! It is so much fun to put together!

Vintage Halloween Quilts Over the Years

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN 2017

Each year we create a curated bundle of what we envision "vintage Halloween" to be. Since 2012 when we first started this tradition, we have collected and compiled soft orange, warm black, various greys and creams throughout the year in order to put together the best Vintage Halloween bundles we can come up with. All of the fabrics are MODA, all of them contain a little Fig Tree but are mixed with so many different designers and collections that we couldn't possibly name them or tell you what's in each bundle. Since we have received so many questions and emails about past projects, we thought we would reminisce a little and see all of the patterns we have done.

You can work on any of these vintage Halloween quilts with this years bundles, just like you can use past year's bundles for any of the other patterns. You might have to add a few fabrics from your stash here or there, or add more background or sashing for a particular pattern, but all of the bundles have had 12 or more 1/2 yard cuts and all the blocks would be easily made with any of them.

So if you don't have a vintage Halloween collection of your own yet.... well it might just be time to start creating one with a whole lot of choices.

To get started, nab one of this year's bundles that we still have available and pick which one of these fun patterns you want to get started with. Remember that this year's bundle comes with the Fresh Laundry pattern but you can also buy any of the other patterns featured throughout the years too to start your collection. Its never too late to start!

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN 2014

Fall is in the air around here! Finally the weather seems to be turning a little bit toward my absolute favorite season of the year! Almost time for all my favorite sweaters to come out!!

 

 

But ofcourse we had way too many good leftovers and so we created a second quilt with what we stil had in the bundle....

And as promised to those of you who purchased the kit [we are making up more this week for those of you still interested], here is the info on the HALLOWEEN CHECKERBOARDS quilt, the second quilt from the bundle...

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN 2013

The new pattern is called "Spools Quartet" and this version is "Halloween Spools" and it is made with 12 different warm blacks, soft greys and our signature butterscotch oranges. It is the kind of quilt that comes together in a weekend with simple cutting and construction. Whip one out this week just in time to display for Halloween... really and truly! These blocks are crazy simple with no triangles, using the square, sew and flip method that most of you are probably familiar with.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Name:  Spools Quarter or Halloween Spools

Size: 68" x 68"

Fabric: Can be made with a jelly roll or in this case (12) 1/4 yds. oranges, blacks and greys.

 

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN 2012

Introducing, the Lollipops pattern in our Halloween Pops version. We are in love with this quilt and can't wait for it to come home and enjoy some time on our couch.  

 

 

 

 Believe it or not but all of these blocks are made with 2 1/2" strips and no templates to sew! If you are familiar with our Papillon pattern or the Dresden Plate pattern in our Fresh Vintage #16, this uses the same method but even simplified. We even figured out a way to get a perfectly flat "plate" each and every time with a little hint. You gotta love that.

SO THAT'S ALL THE VINTAGE HALLOWEEN INFO I CAN DIG UP FROM THE PAST YEARS. We have several of the patterns with the halloween variations up in our SHOP right now if you want to check them out. And this year's bundles are available in 2 different styles.

We have had a lot of new products release recently at Quilt Market and we have advertised some other new things via our newsletter and on Instagram and it is a lot of information to take in so we are writing all of the updates here in one place and hopefully that will answer most of the questions you might have right now. 

HAZEL & PLUM PRE ORDERS

This is something that we do twice a year when we show a brand new collection. In an effort to make sure that everyone who does't have a local quilt shop near them that loves Fig Tree as much they do, we offer kits of some of our brand new patterns in the upcoming collection. These will be available for another week or so, so that everyone who wants one can pre-order. After this, they will no longer be available. When the fabric arrives in October, the kits will ship. If we have extra fabric, we might offer a few of each of the kits with what we have but we will never know what that will be until then. So if you love the kit, now is the time to pre-order it. Up new this week, our HAZEL & PLUM pattern are now ready to go. Paper patterns will be here next week and you are free to order them now so that you get them sent to you the minute they come through the door. PDF patterns are on the site for sale now for those of you who prefer the PDF delivery method. Please remember that if you want them immediately you need to purchase with a credit card and not through PayPal as we have a delay with that method because we have to release them by hand. CREAM BOM

This is a new Block of the Month program that we are launching this June which will go through to next May. It is currently SOLD OUT due to its popularity. If you would like to be added to the wait list, please feel free to email me [email protected] asap and you will be added to the current list. The program was on our site for about a week and many people found it and signed up then. We advertised it last Friday via our newsletter and it was completely sold out by Saturday morning. Again, we are so sorry for that but that is just the way it goes with our BOM programs! We were able to add a small amount of spots to accommodate the first set of wait list names and have a few more spots there but those will quickly fill. We are unable to get many of the fabrics again so will not be able to offer it in its current format with more spots after this. If there is still such huge interest, we will offer it again with a new set of cream fabrics, next year.

 

LITTLE BOX OF FIGS

We are currently working on putting together our 2nd box of this year's subscription [the box goes out in July and is our autumn themed box]. If you are still interested in joining that program, feel free to email us well to be put on the wait list. The program is full but we are adding people to the waitlist. When we process those boxes, if people's cards decline several times, we offer the spots to people on the wait list and many people have been added that way each quarter. 

 

YELLOW & GREEN BOTTLECAPS QUILTS 

Last week we showed a yellow version of our brand new BOTTLECAPS quilt and many of you asked about the yellow and about whether or not we would be kitting that particular version. The answer is yes... we just have to work through a couple of other things first so stay tuned for that one! We also have it with a green background!

 

 

NEW WOOLS AND WOOL PATTERNS

At Market we introduced a new Wool bundle and some cute patterns to play with to go along with it as well as some amazing new cotton threads and wool threads. We will have much more information on all things wool in about a week or so. Stay tuned for that! We are so excited to share more about it!!

Little Box of Figs 2016

Our first year of LITTLE BOX OF FIGS has come to a close and we are so proud of the kits and patterns we have created for this program as well as all our favorite notions and little goodies that we had the chance to include in each box. So here is a quick summary of the 2016 program...

Its a Snails Trail & a bit more Halloween!

Over the last year, I have had the privilege of working on a great feature for American Patchwork & Quilting magazine. It has been called MAKE IT MINI! In each issue we chose one of the full size quilts featured and "made it mini" on the back page of that issue. I have gotten to work with bright fabrics and reproduction ones and a few other styles in between! I have even worked from my scraps. I have had the great fortune to work with one of my collections twice, at the beginning of the series and then again now. It has been a lot of fun.

Today I wanted to show this month's MAKE IT MINI, available in the official December issue of American Patchwork & Quilting. I hear it has started to ship out to subscribers now and will be on newsstands anyway now if its not already there!

We love this little quilt! And we have offered kits for it. You will need to get the magazine on your own.

Kit: includes all the fabric, binding and pattern for the JUNIPER quilt. Fabrics will be primarily Farmhouse with a few MODA Bella Solids added in for variety. Both versions are made with a Farmhouse Jelly Roll so a lot of the cutting is already done for you! Pattern will include lots of hints and tricks on working with strip sets that are cut into angles. Its easier than it looks… I promise!

Kits will not be available as pre-orders after this weekend.
