Welcome back to Day #6 of the

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS SALE!

Note from previous days: We have a few notions and goodies left from previous days. Please feel free to continue to add those to your boxes in the days to come. We will keep them on the featured page until they sell out.

 We are also cutting and adding some more color bundles as we are able and will add them to the site when we can during random times. Its anyone's game and those bundles will not be announced.

A COUPLE OF PIECES OF ADVICE FROM A FEW SHOPPING PROS [aka… a few of our die hard Fig Tree shopping fans]: 

1- Log in and make sure your credit card info is up to date etc, well before you are ready to shop. Basically be ready to put your choices into your cart and check out.

2- Just because your item is in your cart, doesn't mean you have purchased it. If there are a 100 items and 200 people with it in their cart, the first 100 to check out will get the items and they will no longer be available for those that can still see it in their cart but haven't actually pushed the check out button. We are sorry but there is just no other way to do this kind of sale. Otherwise folks could just add things to their carts and hold them indefinitely. And, no, there is no way in our system to add a timer or something to that effect. 

3- Please be kind to each other and do not purchase multiples of the kits. We can't limit you on our end but do ask that as a favor for all the rest of the folks who would also love some. The notions are kind of a different animal… feel free to load up as you wish!

4- Please remember that if this is not fun for you…. PLEASE DON'T DO IT. As we say every year, this is just not for everyone. Thank you!

OUR KIT OF THE DAY:

BEN'S COLLEGE PATCHWORK KIT IN 3 DIFFERENT VERSIONS [originally created as a college patchwork in blues and greys]  

 

 

 

We originally created this quilt as a last minute gift for my first child out of the next this past fall. He loved the quilt so much that he let us photo him with it literally on his way out the door to leave for school. Since we had bolts and bolts of fabric left, we decided to offer the same project to you as a kit. It was so popular with so many of you that we decided to offer it here today in 3 different combination: Classic, Retro or Red & Green. These are fun, simple patchwork quilts with a super simple patch block that you make once and then just turn around as you work on the placement of the quilt.  Hope you have fun!

* The Fig Tree 12 Days of Christmas sale starts on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and lasts for 12 days [usually with a Sunday off here or there].

* Each day a different kit, stocking stuffer and/or home dec goodie will be advertised- on some days several of each! WE HAVE SO MANY YUMMY GOODIES THIS YEAR! Each day a special DAILY DEAL will be made as well.  

 

* Each special offer will only become available on that one day. Each goodie will only be available while stock lasts. Most of the items offered will sell out on that day, some will last a few days. Please believe us that some items will sell out crazy fast [in minutes] and some will last all day based on popularity and stock. Although we try and anticipate the demand, we are often surprised by your enthusiasm and are limited by how much stock we can carry of any given item. EACH DAY IS BASICALLY A LIMITED QUANTITY FLASH SALE.

 

* We never know which ones will sell out the fastest! If we are able to get more in stock of any popular product, we will try but we can't guarantee that anything that sells out will come back in stock. If they can, it will not be a part of the sale but something that we offer after Christmas for a separate January delivery. 

 

* For those of you who want to continue to purchase items throughout the 12 days of the sale but want us to hold your purchases for one shipment, YOU NEED TO BUY-A-BOX. SEE MORE INFO BELOW. The box is an actual product available on our homepage.  You only need to purchase it once either before the sale starts or on the first day that you purchase a 12DAYS item- but you need to purchase it as an actual product once. Then for all the remaining purchases you make, you will simply choose the "I BOUGHT A BOX" option in the shipping directions during the checkout process. 

 

 

 

BUY-A-BOX INFORMATION:

Just like in past years of the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS we offer you the choice to hold all of your daily goodies to be shipped together at the end of the sale so you can save money on the shipping costs and keep adding goodies throughout the 12 days! Its an awesome option and a lot of fun! This year we are continuing our special shipping system, called "BUY-A-BOX" and have made a few changes/additions.

 

This is how it will work:

 

Given how popular this sale is, and how crazy it is for us, we have had to simplify some of our processes! This year, regardless of whether you think you will get the smaller stocking stuffer kinds of items or the "bigger ticket" items and you are a die hard 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS fan, you have to BUY-A-BOX as your shipping option. If your goodies "spill" out of the medium box, we will upgrade you to a large box... AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Once your large box fills, we will send it to you along with an email that your box has shipped. Depending on what day of the sale it is and if you plan on continuing for the remaining days, you will then be able to decide if you wish to buy another box in order to continue with the sale or not.

 

If your box does not fill throughout the sale and all we need is an envelope, WE WILL DONATE THE SHIPPING DIFFERENCE TO OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK. We will downgrade those orders into envelopes, calculate the difference and once we have everyone's "donations", we will let everyone know via our newsletter what that amount is and donate it to the Alameda County Food Bank. IN FACT WE WILL MATCH ANY AMOUNT THAT GETS ACCUMULATED FROM UNUSED SHIPPING CHARGES AND ADD THAT TO THE CHECK. So please don't worry about whether or not you are going to fill up your box. The extra $7 or so that you might not end up needing will go to a very worthy cause during this holiday time. Thank you in advance!!

 

The biggest change from previous years [but the same as last year] - for those of you who have participated before- is that once your allotted box has filled, WE WILL NEED TO SHIP IT AND YOU CAN DECIDE IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE ANOTHER BOX AND KEEP SHOPPING THE SALE FURTHER. This is still a fabulous shipping deal! Not only because we will be upgrading you one shipping category at our cost, but because you can keep shopping knowing that we will continue to put items in your box until we absolutely cannot add anything else! BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU THAT THE ELVES TAKE GREAT PLEASURE IN FILLING EVERY LAST CREVICE BEFORE THEY SHIP YOUR BOX. The reason we are changing the shipping from the past is because of the sheer volume of customers that outgrew their box multiple times. The result was a bit more chaos than the elves knew what to do with around her toward the end of the sale!

 

So here are your steps:

1. So that you are ready for the sale on Friday, BUY-A BOX now so that you can focus on purchasing your items once they start going up on Day #1. Given how quickly the items go, etc, buying your box ahead of time is your best bet!

 

2. When you are buying your goodies, select the "I BOUGHT A BOX" choice in the shipping drop down menu so that you are not charged for shipping each time you place a new item in your box. This is basically your free shipping option for the rest of the items [until you fill your box].

3. If you do not select "I BOUGHT A BOX" as your shipping option when you purchase items, we will assume that you wish to receive the product right away and you want it shipped right away and you do not wish to accumulate items. Believe it or not, there are many customers for whom this is their own personal Christmas and they look forward to receiving the packages each and every day. Enjoy! 

4.Please know that if you forget to select the "I BOUGHT A BOX" option for shipping during checkout, we will not be able to change it. Due to the sheer volume of 12 DAYS customers, we really only have the opportunity to see what is chosen and ship or not ship based on the info you have provided during checkout. Remember you will BUY-A-BOX only once before the sale begins or at the time of your first purchase. This will make all of us- you and us- ready for the sale before it even begins!! We have offered variations on this scrumptious twine for the last couple of years and we can't seem to get enough of it. It is perfect for all kinds of packages…. for Christmas ones obviously but also birthday and others. It dresses up plain brown or white wrap in an instant for a super classy package…! Plus you can use it for all kinds of crafts and other projects as well.

Although we try and anticipate the demand, we are often surprised by your enthusiasm and are limited by how much stock we can carry of any given item. Given how popular this sale is, and how crazy it is for us, we have had to simplify some of our processes! This year, regardless of whether you think you will get the smaller stocking stuffer kinds of items or the "bigger ticket" items and you are a die hard 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS fan, you have to BUY-A-BOX as your shipping option. If your goodies "spill" out of the medium box, we will upgrade you to a large box... AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Once your large box fills, we will send it to you along with an email that your box has shipped. Depending on what day of the sale it is and if you plan on continuing for the remaining days, you will then be able to decide if you wish to buy another box in order to continue with the sale or not.

 

If your box does not fill throughout the sale and all we need is an envelope, WE WILL DONATE THE SHIPPING DIFFERENCE TO OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK. We will downgrade those orders into envelopes, calculate the difference and once we have everyone's "donations", we will let everyone know via our newsletter what that amount is and donate it to the Alameda County Food Bank. IN FACT WE WILL MATCH ANY AMOUNT THAT GETS ACCUMULATED FROM UNUSED SHIPPING CHARGES AND ADD THAT TO THE CHECK. So please don't worry about whether or not you are going to fill up your box. The extra $7 or so that you might not end up needing will go to a very worthy cause during this holiday time. Thank you in advance!!

This is still a fabulous shipping deal! Not only because we will be upgrading you one shipping category at our cost, but because you can keep shopping knowing that we will continue to put items in your box until we absolutely cannot add anything else! BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU THAT THE ELVES TAKE GREAT PLEASURE IN FILLING EVERY LAST CREVICE BEFORE THEY SHIP YOUR BOX. Classic Yuletide BOM Updates...

We are well under way on our latest Block-of-the-Month program and have just sent out Month 4 last week so hopefully all of you have received it by now. We are really enjoying the various combinations of red, green and cream that we are getting to play with and hope that you are too!

We are tracking many of you via your emails and photos and your Instagram posts and it looks like many of you are keeping on track and current! I am so proud of you! This program is only two 16" blocks each month so it is totally "keepupable". I think that should be word, don't you?

Just a Few Updates

Hello Everyone!

Wishing you the most merry of Christmas holidays!

I really hope that as the holiday stress rises and you feel more and more like you are not ready, or the presents are not ready, or your house is not ready, that you are just able to take a minute and breathe....

And then breathe again... and then make yourself a cup of tea and sit down next to the Christmas tree or the mantel or any other place that makes you feel "in the spirit" and take a moment to take it all in. Whatever "it" might be.

Even for those of us who might be experiencing difficult situations, mourning, loss... there is still usually something that we can "take in". Something that can make us smile regardless of what is happening around us. I just wish and pray peace for all of us during this season especially. It makes me sad that this seems too often be the season that makes everyone more nuts and more stressed out than usual instead of the oppositie. Myself included....

Wishing you true peace this season. Even if for just a moment here or there.

Around here we are celebrating Christmas in 4 different celebrations in several different locations and are trying to find moments of peace in the midst of it all. I hope to share more soon but wanted to at least send out some updates about Fig Tree stuff in the midst of everything else. Celebrating with fabric and thread are one of the ways that I personally find peace in my days and figure that you do too!

 

MODERN BLOCK OF THE MONTH

The MODERN BLOCK OF THE MONTH shipments went out early last week and should be to everyone by now. Sorry for the slight delay on those. We really tried to get all of the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS boxes out to everyone before we starting processing these. We hope that you are enjoying them now or that you will get a moment to yourself to work on them after the Christmas festivities have subsided.

They range in size from 18" to 6" this time around and introduce our lovely red tone on tone red from Somerset along with the soft grey floral. Two lovely additions to all those solids and other prints! We love the combos on these! We are absolutely loving seeing all of your blocks all over so please keep those block pics coming!

 

FIG TREE MYSTERY BLOCK OF THE MONTH SAMPLER

We are working diligently to get this one finished before we take a little holiday break. It will be going out after Christmas in order to avoid the Postal Service insanity that goes on last week and this week. In an effort to maintain some sanity around here and in the hopes that we would lessen the chances of your packages getting lost or misrouted in the holiday rush, look for your goodies right after Christmas.

AMERICAN PATCHWORK & QUILTING

The current issue of APQ has a wonderful new little feature that we will be doing monthly. It is called MAKE IT MINI. Each issue, we will choose one of the quilts already in the magazine and work up a miniature version of that quilt. So far we have worked on a couple of these and they are really fun! The first one is up here in this issue...

We do have a few kits for them available. You will need to purchase the magazine seperately and... THE KITS WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL THE END OF MARCH WHEN THE ALOHA GIRL FABRIC ARRIVES FROM MODA.

We will show more photos on this one soon after Christmas too!

 

SINGLE NAVAJO STAR

Many of you who have emailed and contacted us about the blog directions for how to create the single star version of our popular Navajo Stars pattern. The instructions were up on the sidebar of the blog for quite a while and then thanks to the wonders of the internet, they dissapeared! So we are in the process of getting them back up but meanwhile here is the info for those of you who are anxiously awaiting!

The star block is made exactly as the one in the pattern. Trim it up reguarly just like you would for the quilt [so we are assuming a 23 1/2" trimmed up star]. Then add the following borders:

1st inner border [Somerset red]: (1) 1 1/2" x 23 1/2" and (2) 1 1/2"  25 1/2" strips.

2nd middle border [ivory solid]: (2) 1 1/2" x 25 1/2" and (2) 1 1/2" x 27 1/2" strips.

3rd outer border [green floral]: (2) 2 1//2" x 27 1/2" and (2) 2 1/2" x 31 1/2" strips.

Bind with (3) 2 1/4" binding strips [aqua solid].

Here is a a little Christmas version of the same star. Perfect for any bundle of red, green and cream fabrics!

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: DAY 5

 

OUR 4TH ANNUAL...

 

On the 5th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 5 Golden Rings. Now that is a hard gift to beat but just in case you're not a jewelry person...

 

TODAY'S KIT:

My true love gave to me something completely functional and still lovely all at the same time, a fabulous retro words BUTCHER STYLE APRON KIT, in 3 different color options.

 

Fabulous in any of the three color combinations, this apron wraps all the way around you in the back [one size fits most] and ties around you in the front. I don't know about you, but that is my favorite way to wear an apron.

In my kitchen there are several very cute, handmde or retro feeling aprons that I wear once in a while but it is this one that I reach for again and again for daily cooking. And not only that, the husband loves it, as do my crafty friends for when they are glueing and sticking and creating any messy crafty thing. On the 4th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 4 Calling Birds. However, he figured that 4 birds were not quite what I was looking for in the way of a gift so he added in a bit of...

My true love gave to me my absolute favorite kit of this season, the Vintage Mistletoe Table Runner Kit.

 

 

The absolutely best part of this kit is that the main runner fabric is a nice thick towelling, beautifually woven in India. This MODA towelling comes app. 17" wide [finished] and it is not only spectacular and the perfect shade of vintage tomato red, but it is ALREADY HEMMED FOR YOU ON BOTH LONG SIDES! Yes, that's right. It is hemmed on the bolt and comes that way. The only thing you need to do in order to have a finished table runner is hem the 2 short ends, add your simple mistletoe applique and voila! You have a perfect holiday table!

 

 

Kit includes 100" [which is app. 2 3/4" yds.] of the hemmed tomato red towelling- with those lovely little taupe stripes on each side- beautiful hand-dyed wool in warm grass green, ivory cream and caramel brown to create the applique you see here on both ends of the runner. If your table is shorter than ours or you want a runner with no overhang simply trim the towelling down to fit your table and have a little extra tomoto red toweling for another project. It would make a perfect little pillow! Kit also includes the pattern [it happens to be a favorite Fresh Vintage issue that has not only the layout for this applique but also plenty of other goodies inside including a wonderful quilt pattern].

 

 

The wool has wonderful hand-dyed variagations on it and feels rich and saturated and just perfect. The kit provides you with enough to make these classic mistletoe branches on both ends of the runner or to use the extra for another holiday project. And the best part of using wool- no edges to turn under and nothing to worry about other than stitching it down to the toweling!

This is certainly a project not to be missed!

The Perfect Little Scissors

 

Karen Kay Buckley has designed the "Perfect Scissor" for all your applique and trimming needs. The handles are larger than normal, cushioned for comfort and can easily be used right or left handed. When using these micro-serrated scissors you will find that it pulls the fabric into the blades rather than pushing the fabric away as with standard scissors. The blades are designed to cut all the way to the tip. A protective plastic cover is included.

 

 

But that's not all....Karen thought that your scissors needed a little "bling" and so she designed this lovely little charm to go with these scissors!
And if you are like me and always lose the little protector, you end up poking yourself with those sharp scissors and wish you had somehow attached it to the scissor. OUR 4TH ANNUAL...

 

On the 2nd Day of Christmas my true love gave to me, two turtledoves and a partridge in a pear tree. However, he also added in something a bit more "Fig Tree"!

My true love gave to me a classic, red and green Christmas version of our newest pattern, STARFISH.

 

This classic version of our popular new pattern is made with only 3 fabrics in each block and one of my favorite prints in the outer border. The quilt is 4 blocks by 4 as shown and measures " when finished. It is absolutely perfect for the holidays. Back it in red or cream Snuggle [available in our shop seperately] and make it the favorite quilt of the season! Each kit contains all the Somerset fabrics you see her to complete the top as shown along with the pattern and the binding fabric.

I can't wait to finish ours so that I can add it to my special Christmas quilt stack.... possibly my favorite decoration at Christmas!
