Day #5: The 12 Days of Christmas
November 30, 2011
Welcome to Day #5 of the 12 Days of Christmas: Fig Tree Style! Each day we will have a different kit, a different sale and even a few giveaways along the way. Join us each day so that you don't miss out on a single thing. We are so excited to share all of our goodies with you!
Day #5
I am sure that I have mentioned on more than one occasion, my love of pillows! Its the perfect way to completely change your room in an afternoon- for a special occasion, for a freshen up or for a holiday makeover. A couple of pillows on the couch, the bed or your favorite recliner or love seat can and will completely change the feel of your room. Really!
This pattern, Pillow Duets, has the pattern for both a square pillow in either a 3- fabric plus linen version or the scrappy charm pack with linen version. It also contains the rectangular button pillow that can be made entirely from a charm pack and some linen. Can you imagine the different ways that you could make these with a single charm pack and some neutral solid of any kind! Makes me want to go make pilllows!!
... the square pillows on top, the rectangular button pillows on the bottom
... button pillows made from Buterscotch & Rose on the bottom, Buttercup & Strawberry Fields on the top.
... right there in the middle is the square Butterscotch & Rose version that we are offering kitted today.
Special #1:
Square Pillow Kit, Butterscotch & Rose version. Contains pattern, linen, backing, Butterscotch & Rose charm pack, button kit... basically all you would need to make the pillow exactly as seen. And actually with a few more buttons, the same kit can also make the Button Pillow instead if you prefer!

As an alternative for those of you who are feeling more "festive" than "makeover", we created a holiday version of the same pillow pattern.
Introducing the Holiday Duet...
... a little linen, my favorite red Queen Anne's Lace fabric from Butterscotch & Rose, my favorite mosaic fabric from Mill House Inn and a few fun green buttons. Perfect for my holiday couch! Okay so maybe I did have a bit of an ulterior motive for making the prototype... it might be or not be gracing my living room couch next week!
... oh, and you can't see it here but it has a lovely cream, green and red floral geranium print from the 3 Sisters Martinique collection for the back of the pillow.
Special #1:
Square Holiday Duet Kit. Contains pattern, linen, cream floral backing, red floral for strips, red mosaic center square, green scraps for buttons, button kit... basically all you would need to make the pillow exactly as seen.

I did my whole house in neutrals, with the idea that I could just swap out the window valances, and pillows and the throws with the holidays and the seasons.. well I havn't quite gotten there yet. But...I'd love to someday. The idea of buttons on a pillow is just a wonderful touch. It adds a spark of joy I love. You have a creative flair I will have to copy for sure!!

These pillows are great. I've made 4, three in Strawberry Fields and one in Buttercup. Those who have gotten them for gifts and those who see them all love them. And they're easy to make. The i-topper really helps. You can't stop making buttons they're so easy. Thanks Joanna for this great pattern. Saw them at Holly hill quilt shoppe and had to have them.

I often use buttons on the back of my cushions. Your buttons on the front look really cool. I shall have to try that idea when I replace my cushion covers in the spring.

Love the pillows- especially the Holiday duet for this season. you have the most wonderful ideas and fabric - and thanks to you I purchased an I-top tool after your praises on your blog several months ago. This is one blog I never miss.

The Holiday duet is really beautiful, but I don't know if I could just use them during the Holidays. I like cheerful, and the red is cheerful. Thanks so much for the 12 Days blog. I've enjoyed them all, along with the "everyday" blogs.
