....this little girl totally cracks me up! My husband says she looks like me, do you see a resemblance? he says its something about the wild look in her eye :-).
My philosophy on New Year's is like birthdays. We do birthday weeks in our family, the day itself might or might not be the center of the celebration! It just makes for more occasion to celebrate and there is not so much expectation to have one perfect day. The same can be said for New Year's. Although we do celebrate the eve of the coming year with some of our closest friends every year, its just too much pressure to do everything new year related on the 1st. Don't you think? So around here we definitely do a "slow roll" to the new year.
And so in that vein, Happy New Year to all of you, my lovely peeps!
It was just yesterday that I had the heart to start "deChristmasing" our house and even then I can only manage to put away the overtly Christmas decorations and give the more winter flavored ones a few more days or perhaps weeks of life. Hey, let's be honest, its just too much work to get all those boxes out for 3 weeks hanging time a year. They need to be out and to be enjoyed at least a month or even a little bit more. Are you with me? So here is what has made the cut so far at casa Fig....
... my favorite new quilt. Be looking a reproduction of this one at the next pattern release in May.
... can't resist ice skates of any kind. Or words. Or both.
.... I know it says Merry Christmas, but I was just not ready to give this one up since it was a new addition this year.
... while most of the red and green does get put away, all the white and silver and a little bit of glitter gets to stay a bit longer.
We have SO MUCH coming this year, we don't even know where to begin. So many exciting things coming our way that we have already been working on and a couple of things that are just "in the works" still. Can't wait to start sharing them all with you later this week.
But to finish off last year, thought I would share a few pics of our last PATTERN DEBUT from Market that we still haven't managed to show off to you. I was of course saving the best for last because this is easily my favorite quilt in a long time.
PATTERN DEBUT #6
DANCING DOLLIES SAMPLER
... this yummy was made with a mix of Fresh Cottons, Breakfast at Tiffany's and a little Buttercup mixed in for good measure.
... the Dollies are sewn template free because if you know me, you know I don't do templates unless they are absolutely unavoidable.
... the dollies, or angels as many of our customers are calling them, encircle the simple patchwork blocks on the inside.
... yummy quilting by the lovely Diana Johnson.
.. a flat shot of a version made entirely out of our upcoming BUTTERCUP collection.
... and finally a flat shot of the version made with a mix of collections.
Name: Dancing Dollies Sampler
Size: 63 1/2" x 73 1/2"
Fabrics: you can use a 1/8 yd. bundle to get you started or work from your stash or 1/4 yards. Its a wonderful quilt to collect your favorite palette for. Like we mentioned above, we used a combination of at least 3 different lines for the pictures shown- Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fresh Cottons and Buttercup. Heck I think we used a little Whimsy and Mill House Inn for the heads even.
Click here if you would like to add one to your pattern stash.
Note: For those of you who were quick enough to pre order one of the kits for this quilt, the kits will start shipping at the end of the month. We have started a wait list but we can't make any promises about whether or not we will be able to make any more due to fabric shortages. Email us at joanna@figtreequilts.com
